Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) outfit Mumbai City FC celebrated their sixth foundation day on Sunday and organized an Instagram live session for their fans with many of their former and current stars. Forward Modou Sougou was a part of the celebrations on Instagram and shared just what it means for him to have played for the Islanders and be the club’s all-time leading goal-scorer.

“It was an honour to represent Mumbai City and to be the club's top scorer. I hope these records will be broken as soon as possible because the club can only grow when records are broken. This is my wish for the club,” Sougou said.

During his two seasons at the club, the 35-year-old attacker made 32 appearances and scored 15 goals, making him the club’s all-time top goal-scorer. He led the team to the Hero ISL play-offs in the 2018-19 season, scoring hat-tricks against both Kerala Blasters FC and the erstwhile ATK FC. The forward counts both matches among his favourite Hero ISL moments.

“I have two favourite moments, the game against Kerala, I think it was on 16th December (2018) – I scored four goals (Mumbai won 6-1). The second was the game against ATK when we won 3-1 because that game helped us to get to the play-offs (in Hero ISL 2018-19),” he told host and teammate Raynier Fernandes.

Raynier was also joined by goalkeeper Amrinder Singh, who shared his feelings about the Islanders. “It is a great feeling to be with the club for almost four years. From the first day to now, everyone at the club is like a family. It’s one of best clubs in India. I have never seen such a professional club. They have an update about our whereabouts (even during the lockdown). This is what we expect from our clubs,” the Indian shot-stopper said.
