Mumbai City FC have announced the signing of Matias Mirabaje on a one-year deal. The Uruguayan midfielder joins the side after spending the previous campaign with the Delhi Dynamos.

Mirabaje emerged as one of Delhi’s most influential players in the previous campaign under head coach Miguel Portugal. Despite Delhi enduring a difficult season, the 29-year-old made 12 appearances for the side, registering a total of three goals and one assist.

The midfielder started his career with Uruguayan club Racing Club de Montevideo before representing a few other clubs in South America. Mirabaje also represented his nation in the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2009.

Mirabaje will be the first signing under new head coach Jorge Costa. With a host of additions during the summer transfer window, the Islanders have strengthened their side in a bid to mount a better challenge for the upcoming season to improve upon their seventh-place finish in the 2017-18 campaign.
