Chennaiyin FC welcome FC Goa to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai for the second leg of the second semi-final of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 on Tuesday. Chennaiyin scored a crucial away goal in the first leg at Goa to take a slim advantage into the return fixture. Dutchman Gregory Nelson has been one of their most influential players, having appeared in 17 matches and bagged a goal as well as an assist. The 30-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com prior to the encounter and shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the first leg?

It was a difficult game. FC Goa is a good team but there are many positives. We didn’t lose, we got an away goal. Of course we wanted to win but hopefully, we’ll win the second game at home.

Were you unlucky to not score in the first leg?

Yes. I hope the luck finally comes in the second game and especially in the final. I also know that we came close a few times to score but we didn’t, so I hope in the second game we get going.

Will Chennaiyin FC sit back or attack?

No, it’s not all out attack. It’s also not all out defence. We just need to be careful. FC Goa is a good team. We, of course, want to win the game but we will not go all-out attack. We have a little advantage because we have an away goal. So they have to come. So, we will just wait for our chances and hopefully win the game.

Is it an advantage playing the second leg at home?

It’ll be a big advantage. Our fans are amazing. The stadium will be full. They will be cheering us on and of course, this will be a big advantage for us. Just come support us tomorrow and hopefully, we’ll win the game and after the game, we can celebrate the win and our road to the final together.
