NorthEast United FC continue their signing spree ahead of the 2018-19 season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) with the capture of Indian defender Keegan Pereira. After a number of attacking additions to the squad over the week, the Highlanders look intent on strengthening their defence line.

The 30-year-old defender signs for the Highlanders after spending two seasons with two-time Hero ISL champions ATK. Raised in Mumbai, Pereira started off his professional career with Mumbai FC in the Hero I-League. He spent six seasons with the cub, before becoming a part of Salgaocar FC, DSK Shivajians and Bengaluru FC, in later years.

Pereira started off his Hero ISL career in 2015 with Mumbai City FC, where he made six appearances for the club through the season. His most fruitful spell, however, came in the 2017-18 campaign where he was a regular for ATK, playing a total of 17 games for the Kolkata outfit.

The veteran left-back will be a valuable signing for Eelco Schattorie ahead of the new season, owing to his experience and versatility. The club have been one of the busiest in the transfer window in the past few days, signing a host of new players. The Highlanders, who begin their 2018-19 campaign against FC Goa, will look to pose a strong challenge this time around.
