NorthEast United FC fell to their tenth loss of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18, as they succumbed to a narrow 1-0 loss against bottom-placed Delhi Dynamos FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday. Kalu Uche’s 87th-minute winner proved to be the decisive blow for the Highlanders, as their attack failed to convert their own opportunities into goals. After the final whistle, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the hosts’ forward Maic Sema for his thoughts on the match and the road ahead. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the match?

It is disappointing. We wanted to win and we fought hard, but today there were individual mistakes that cost us the game.

Do you think the result is fair?

I will say no. It was not fair but football is football and we have to score to win. Today we needed to score and we fought, but there were some simple mistakes. I don’t know if it was tiredness as we were playing a lot, but we are very disappointed.

Did Marcinho’s injury impact the game?

It’s tough to say. We tried to play even when he went out, but of course, he is an important player for us. He’s a good player but the players that came in also fought. It’s tough to say if it’s a cause.

What do you think is missing from the attack?

It’s again tough to say. It’s frustrating as you want to score, you want to win but we were a little bit unlucky. We just need to focus and continue. We can’t quit now as there are some games left. We need to continue playing and hopefully win more till the end of the season.

Your thoughts on the next match against Kerala?

I don’t know how Kerala play as I have never played against them, but we will keep on fighting and we want to get the win at home especially. It is the last home game. It is important for us to win. For us, for the fans and for the club. So, we’ll try to win.
