FC Pune City ended their league phase of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 campaign by playing out a 2-2 draw against Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on Friday. The Stallions will now have to wait till the match-week is over to find out what their final position in the table will look like and whether they can hold onto their second-place.

After 90 minutes of entertaining play, speaking to the media during the post-match press conference was Pune’s head coach Ranko Popovic and he admitted that he was happy with the result given that he did not have a full-strength side to choose from. “Because of suspensions of some players, we could not play a full-strength squad,” he stated. “Some key players did not play, but we started well today.”

The Serbian further added, “We did not have many options from the bench to refresh our play. So, of course, I am happy with the game we played and the result.”

Asked about how he would ideally like his team to finish in the table, the 50-year-old said, “Any position in the top-four is good. I don’t see any difference. No matter whoever we play, we will try to give our best and win. We have had a fantastic season and we are proud of it.”
