The first leg of the first semi-final encounter of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 ended goalless as FC Pune City drew against Bengaluru FC at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune on Wednesday. The visitors did have some good chances at scoring, but the Stallions’ defence along with their custodian Vishal Kaith held on resolutely to ensure they don’t concede an away goal going into the second leg. After the final whistle, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the 21-year-old Kaith to find out his views on the same. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the clean sheet?

The 0-0 scoreline is a good result for us so far. We didn’t concede an away goal either, so that’s an added advantage we will take with us into the second leg.

Adil Khan put up a great display in the midfield. Your views on his performance?

Adil Khan did his job well tonight. He marked Sunil Chhetri well and didn’t allow too many chances to be created. So that was good for the team and also a huge help for me because it allowed me to play more easily in goal. It kept the defence strong.

Talk us through that free-kick save off Sunil Chhetri.

Saving is my job so I did it. I just saw the ball and saved it.

Do you think Pune have an advantage in the second leg?

It is good for us at the moment. Whether we get an away goal there or not depends on who scores. Right now, it is 0-0. If we can go and score there and not concede, that will be the best thing for us.

Any Message for the fans?

The fans always support us. Thank you to the ‘Orange Army’ for doing that. I hope they continue supporting us in this manner and come to Bengaluru for the next match, and show the support they have and we’ll perform the way we have.
