FC Pune City went down 3 – 1 to Bengaluru FC in the second leg of the first semi-final of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Sree Kanteerva Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. The Stallions were undone by Sunil Chhetri’s hat-trick although they did have their moments, some of which fell to their striker, Emiliano Alfaro. The Uruguayan spoke to indiansuperleague.com post-match and shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the match?

It was a heavy result, as our target after we played the semi-finals was to go to the final. But this is football, and we made mistakes. We have to continue and hopefully next year would be our chance to show everybody that FC Pune City can also play in the final. So, let’s see what happens next year. But congratulations to them (Bengaluru FC) because they played a good game. You can see some strange things had happened. But this is football and you have to forget all that and play.

What positives do you take from this season of Hero ISL?

Many, many things. This is the first time that FC Pune City has reached the semi-finals in the history of the club. This is something to be happy about. But after you do that you want more. And we wanted to reach the final and play the final but we could not. So, we’ll have to wait for next year. The most important (thing) was that everybody was here, and all the players gave their best on the pitch.
