With the final of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 just a few hours away, the tension is palpable as Bengaluru face Chennaiyin FC on the grand stage at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru tonight. It promises to be a fascinating southern derby that’ll decide this season’s champions and here's what some select Hero ISL stars had to say about the fixture.

NorthEast United FC defender Jose Goncalves believes that home advantage will play a role. “My prediction for the final is a Bengaluru FC win as they’re playing at home,” he remarked.

FC Pune City forward and last season’s Golden Boot winner Marcelinho, however, thinks that the visitors might have a chance if they defend well. “I really don’t know who is going to be the champion. Chennaiyin FC are doing really well, and if they’re compact, I think they’ll be the champions,” the Brazilian said.

Mumbai City FC’s Sahil Tavora cheekily avoided picking out a favourite. “I think it will go to extra time and penalties and then the gods will decide,” the Islanders’ midfielder said before adding, “It’s going to be the one who has the most character and who works harder. That’s what I think takes you from heroes to champions.”

ATK forward Robin Singh also weighed in with his thoughts and put his money on the Blues. “I am going to go with Bengaluru FC on this one. Been a part of them, the setup was great, the boys are brilliant and they work hard,” he stated. “I would go with Bengaluru FC right now because I watched them play, they had 40 points at the top the table. As a unit they’re good.”
