Delhi Dynamos FC, on Wednesday, announced that U-18 goalkeeper, Ankit Bhuyan had signed up for the senior team and will now be a part of the squad for the upcoming Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 season. In doing so, the youngster has followed in the footsteps of fellow teenagers and academy products - Shubham Sarangi and Seiminmang Manchong, to take the first massive leap of their careers.

Born in Bhubaneshwar, Bhuyan enjoyed playing football from an early age, operating in a number of positions, before finally making the goalkeeping slot his own on advice of his coach. The 18-year-old’s career hit the upward trajectory from there on, as he got selected as one of only 17 Indian players to be trained and guided by the coaches of Bundesliga club, 1899 Hoffenheim.

The trust in teenagers shown by coach Josep Gombau is nothing new though, with a number of players having earned their debuts under the Spaniard throughout the 2018-19 term. The Dynamos have quietly gone about their business in the summer window so far, adding both experience and young blood in equal measure.
