Spanish midfielder Marcos Tebar has returned to the Indian capital to represent Delhi Dynamos FC for the upcoming season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). Tebar, who represented FC Pune City during the 2017-18 campaign, has signed a one-year deal with the Lions, for whom he featured back in 2016 as well.

During his stint under Ranko Popovic at Pune, Tebar made a total of 17 appearances, contributing with a goal and two assists during the Stallions’ most successful campaign till date. His fine performances at the centre of the park were one of the reasons why Pune made it to their first ever semi-finals last year.

Josep Gombau, new head coach of Dynamos, had some warm words for the returning midfielder in the official press release. “We are extremely happy to have Tebar sign for the club. He is someone who knows the club well and loves playing for the club so that is the passion that we want from our players. He’s coming on the back of a fantastic season and we are hopeful he can replicate his performances this year as well.”

The veteran midfielder will bring some much-needed experience into this young Delhi squad. His time in Spain with teams such as Rayo Vallecano, Almeria and Girona FC, as well as his stint with Pune, will no doubt come in handy as Delhi prepare to mount a serious challenge this time around.

Tebar spoke of his delight on returning to Delhi and is raring to go when the new season gets underway. “I can’t wait to step on the field and wear the Dynamos jersey again. This is the club where I made a name for myself in India and I am very excited to be back.”
