Delhi Dynamos FC host ATK in their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 clash at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on Saturday. The Lions had a woeful start to the campaign, which resulted in them being knocked out of contention for a playoff spot. However, of late they have shown some improvement having gone three games without a loss. Their 24-year-old defender Munmun Lugun has appeared in eighth matches so far and he spoke to indiansuperleague.com prior to the contest against ATK. Here are the excerpts.

Is it always a special feeling to represent your home town?

Yes, it is. Delhi is my home, and I have played all my life here since childhood. I have done my schooling and everything from here. So it is a special place and a special team for me to play in.

How much has the league changed in the past few years?

The league has changed immensely in a positive way. Now you can see the players have been improving, and the set-up which ISL has been using now is more professional than what we used to have earlier. The players are going in the right direction, and that can be seen on the pitch, and even the ranking of the Indian national football team.

What are your thoughts on this season?

The things did not turn out as planned. But sometimes it happens. We have played so many games in a positive manner, and have performed well, but then we have been unlucky conceding goals.

What are your thoughts on your captain Kalu Uche?

He is having a good season. He has scored eight goals till now, and six have come in the last five games. He is a leader, and has played in the top divisions of some top leagues. So, we get to learn a lot as well.

How much does a defender like you get to learn from Edu Moya, on and off the pitch?

Off the pitch he is jolly and is joking all the time. Even on the pitch, he is jolly and there are a lot of things to learn from him. He guides us and has been a positive guy throughout the season, helping each and every player in the team.

What do you expect from the last few games of your campaign?

We are focusing to win as many games as possible, move up the table and finish the season on a high note.
