MOMENTS OF THE WEEK

Chennaiyin FC become the first club to win 20 matches in ISL history

The Super Machans are now the club with the maximum number of wins in the history of the league following their 3-0 rout of NorthEast United FC in Chennai. Raphael Augusto and Mohammed Rafi got on the scoresheet following an Abdul Hakku own goal. The 2015 champions have now notched up 20 victories as they finished the week at third spot on the table.

Goal tally tripled this week

The first game week saw a measly seven goals being scored, with two goalless draws being played. This week, however, we saw a massive 21 goals being netted, including three matches witnessing a total of five goals each.

Bengaluru FC are the only team to boast a 100% win record

With all clubs having played two matches each, ISL debutants Bengaluru FC are the only team to have won both, having followed up their 2-0 victory over Mumbai City FC with a 4-1 win over Delhi Dynamos. They consequently lead the league table.

Jamshedpur, Kerala unbeaten and yet to concede… but also yet to win

Both Kerala Blasters FC and Jamshedpur FC started out with goalless draws in their opening fixtures. Kerala managed to hold defending champions ATK in the season opener while debutant Jamshedpur didn’t allow NorthEast United FC – who were playing at home – to score either. When these two clubs clashed in Kochi, the result was similar to their first matches. Over the next week, it will be worth watching out for their first goals.

ATK’s woes against FC Pune City continue

Defending champions ATK conceded four goals in a match for the first time in their history as their poor record against Pune continued. This became the Stallions’ fourth win over ATK, who have got the better of them just once. An ironic stat, considering ATK are the only team to have made the cut for the knock-outs every time, while their tormentors’ best-ever finish in the league has been sixth. Marcelinho contributed to all the goals in this match held at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, scoring two and assisting two.

Match Week 3 kicks off on November 29th with the ‘Maha Derby’ as FC Pune City gear up to host Mumbai City FC at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium. For upcoming fixtures and recent match updates, click here
