Kerala Blasters FC came from behind to earn a valuable point when they drew 1-1 with Jamshedpur FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Tuesday. Seiminlen Doungel scored a late equaliser for the hosts after Carlos Calvo put the visitors in front from the spot in the second-half.

At the post-match press conference, Kerala head coach David James shared his thoughts on the match and also addressed the contentious penalty decision. "It has been a constant theme this season. I cannot moan about it. I just have to speak as it is. We got Seiminlen Doungel to save us today. If you ask me, it was a game that we should have won. We clearly had the best chances. We scored a legitimate goal and got undone by a decision which was not a penalty. Today we were on top for most of the match," he said.

Despite the draw, James was thoroughly pleased with the performance put in by his players. "I’m laughing because it is another draw. But yes, this is possibly the best we have played. We have had goal-line clearances, we hit the crossbar and we had dominance in many areas. We really did not give them much. Sandesh Jhingan was fantastic on the right-hand side. What we did was excellent. Maybe a little bit more composure in the right place is missing. Everybody did everything right from a team point of view. There was nothing more we could have done to get the three points," opined the Englishman.

Jamshedpur boss Cesar Ferrando began by admitting that the match was a tough test for his team. "We took a point. It was a difficult match to play. In the last minutes of the game, my team got tired. We had only three days after the last match and a long travel, so it was difficult to play against Kerala. They had three or four chances to score and so did we," he stated.

Jamshedpur were dealt a huge blow early in the match when Michael Soosairaj had to be taken off due to an injury. Ferrando confirmed that the winger had suffered a hamstring injury and would be out for a lengthy period. "He had a hamstring injury. I think it will be impossible for him to play before the break. Maybe in mid-January. It will be a big blow for us," he revealed.
