Kerala Blasters FC played out a 0 – 0 draw with Chennaiyin FC in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Friday. The result did little good for the hosts as it leaves their chances of qualifying for the playoffs hanging by a fine margin. Kerala had their moments though, but missed some golden opportunities. Iceland forward Gudjon Baldvinsson had a good game and got on the end of a few chances. He spoke to indiansuperleague.com post-match and shared his thoughts on the match. Here are the excerpts.

Talk us through the game.

It was a tough match but we had a lot of opportunities. We didn’t use them and we didn’t score but what you can say is that we really played well. But we didn’t score. You have to score to win the game.

What would you attribute the lack of finishing to?

Sometimes you are just unlucky. I think the penalty was a good save and I had a shot which had a good save and sometimes it is like that in football. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

What are your thoughts on the qualification chances?

Of course, we would have liked to win and have it in our own hands, but now we have to trust in all results and hopefully something good happens for us. I don’t know if it is over for us or not but we hope for the best.

Any message for the fans?

We will all work hard in the next match. We are unbeaten for five games and you don’t win every game. But we will try to win every game of course.

How has your Hero ISL experience been?

It’s been a great experience and I think I am getting in better shape. I came from Iceland and I would love to have stayed longer. Now I have one game left and hopefully I can score at least one more goal.
