FC Goa visit the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai to take on Chennaiyin FC in the second leg of the second semi-final of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 on Tuesday. The Gaurs conceded an away goal in the first leg at home and will need to score to progress. Mark Sifneos joined them from Kerala Blasters FC during mid-season and has even bagged a goal since his move. He spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the match and shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the first leg?

It could have gone both ways. I think we had more possession but Chennaiyin also had chances, some good chances. For both sides, it could have been a win or a loss. With a draw everything is open. So, now we have to focus and we will see.

FC Goa had a lot of possession but scored only one goal. Any thoughts on that?

Chennaiyin play defensively. They closed the spaces. That’s what they try to do. They play more on the counter. We play with more possession because there isn’t a lot of space at the back for us.

What will the approach be for the second leg?

I think FC Goa will play attacking football all season long. So, I think you can expect the same. We never come for a draw. Every match we try to win. So, for us, a draw is not good enough. We can go through with a draw, 2-2 or higher but we never play for a draw.

Thoughts on FC Goa’s improved defence?

I hope the defence is as good as the last matches. I think you have to give credit to the whole team. The attack and also the midfield for the good defending and I hope we can continue this way.

How has your Hero ISL experience been so far?

Special. When I came to India, I never expected the season to be like this. First of all, I never expected to leave Kerala so soon and change teams midway through the season, but I think it has been a special season and a season I will never forget. It is an unforgettable experience with both teams’ fans. They are both fantastic and we hope for support tomorrow like always.
