FC Goa failed to take maximum leverage from their home support at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa as they drew 1-1 against Chennaiyin FC on Saturday in the first leg of the second semi-final of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. The Gaurs defence held their own for the majority of the match before conceding a crucial away goal. Club captain Laxmikant Kattimani returned and put on a splendid display between the sticks, before failing to restrict the equaliser. After the final whistle, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the 28-year-old for his views on the match. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the game?

It was a hard game and we did our best. We scored first and then we conceded and it’s not over yet because there is the second leg and we will win.

What is your say on Chennaiyin’s performance?

We were attacking and they were also attacking. It was a game of one chance. We got (it and), we scored. They got (a chance and), they scored. It’s still not over.

How confident are you going into the next leg?

I am very confident about my team because we play away games very well and we scored many goals. I am sure we will score and win.

What do you make of Lanzarote’s performance?

He’s good for us and I know that he’ll keep scoring and help us in the away match also.
