Bengaluru FC and Jamshedpur FC are all set to lock horns in an exhilarating fixture on Sunday at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. The 2017-18 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) finalists will be looking to clinch maximum points against Jamshedpur and climb to the summit of the points table, going into the season’s first international break. At the pre-match press conference held on Thursday, Bengaluru head coach Carles Cuadrat took questions from the media.

Cuadrat started off by talking about his team’s approach towards the game, while also sharing some information on how he plans to tackle his opponents. “Our primary target is to try and be competitive against a team like this. Again, our aim is to have the ball and give more touches to our strikers, who showed us last week how dangerous they can be when they have the space. When the team is in a situation where they can take advantage, they do it well. We did it in the last game during the second half. So, this is the plan and we have been working on set-pieces because we are good at that and we will try to surprise them.”

The Spaniard had some great words to share when asked about his opponents’ style of play. “They did very well against Mumbai (City FC) last week. They were trying to have the ball, and when they had the ball, they had the talent to construct a good offensive attack. They know if they win the game, they will go on top of the league with six points, so it’ll be a good game.”

When asked about his team’s recent run of unsatisfactory performances in the first half of matches, he dismissed any sort of concerns about it. “Every game is different and the circumstances bring you to a different moment in the game. Last week against Chennai, we wanted to have the ball and put them in their area from the starting of the game. But, they have a good team and they made good counter-attacks. Sometimes, it happens that one action makes a click in the head of the opponents and they start to believe in themselves, which might make us feel unsafe. So, this happens.”

The 49-year-old also shared his personal thoughts on the similarities between Jamshedpur’s superstar Tim Cahill and his very own target-man Miku. “They have a lot of experience and they can make the difference, this is what they have in common. But, when it comes to specific football skills, they are quite different. Tim Cahill is very good in the air. Miku is good at that, but not better than him. Also, inside the box, Cahill can take advantage of himself and Miku is able to do the last pass. He’s a good player in that half of the pitch. So, for sure they give a lot to the teams, but they’re different.”
