In the last matchday of the league-phase of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18, Jamshedpur FC welcome FC Goa at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur for what is going to be a do-or-die encounter. The league debutants can’t afford to drop points on Sunday, as anything other than a win will gift the Gaurs the last semi-final spot. With everything at stake, the hosts will give their best on the field to nullify Goa’s formidable attack and speaking to indiansuperleague.com prior to the match were their two experienced foreign recruits - Andre Bikey and Wellington Priori. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

Bikey, your thoughts on the current Hero ISL season?

To be fair, it was nice. The league has improved year after year and we are very happy with where we are at present. Right now, we will be very happy if we get the qualification and go to the semi-finals. So, nothing to add on top of that.

Your thoughts on the recent drop of form in the team?

I think that’s football. So, you win, you lose or draw. We have to have safety and no regrets at all, to be fair. Whenever we get on the pitch, we have to give our best and whatever happens, you have to go on, as that is football. We just dropped five points, before which we were winning every game. So that’s the main part of football and that is the beauty of football. Tomorrow there will be another part of the good and bad thing of the football world. Right now, we just have to forget about what happened in the previous week and focus on tomorrow’s game. It is the official one, which will decide what happens in our lives, whether we have to go back home or stay here for a couple of days. So, tomorrow will be a win or go home.

Priori, what is your take on Jamshedpur’s performance this season?

I think the team has been doing a great job. We have been playing together and we have been playing a very nice game. We have been playing like a family and we deserve to go to the semi-finals. I just want to say congratulations to all the teams because it is not easy to make a team. Jamshedpur made a team in five months and now we are fighting for the semi-finals. That is really a historical thing and it’s nice to be in this team. I am proud of everyone in the team.

How is the team preparing to face Goa?

They have a very good side and a very good team, but we just have to keep doing what we have kept on doing all this season which is playing together, be organized, be disciplined and do our best. We don’t have to do anything special and we just have to be ourselves and do what we have been doing. Do all the things that got us here in this position, where we are fighting for the semi-finals.

Bikey, is there any added pressure in the camp before the crucial game?

Especially for me, it is a motivation, you know. We have to test ourselves in every sense of that word. Even mentally. So tomorrow, we’ll see how strong we are. I am sure the entire team will respond and not only the starting eleven but the entire squad. We need those three points. We have to perform tomorrow and it won’t be easy because nothing is easy. I think, tomorrow would be a great day for us and I am sure we won’t go back home with our heads down.
