Boithang Haokip has a good work rate and is a long range shooter besides being good with both feet. He is also known as the “David Beckham of the North-East” for his accurate and stylish free kicks. Haokip started playing football when he was nine years old and was influenced by his father to take up the game seriously. He played for United Sports Association in Manipur in 2005 and then moved to Manipur Brother Sporting Union and Kuki Sporting Club before joining Lajong in 2008. After two seasons with NorthEast United FC, Haokip is set to undertake a fresh challenge with Mumbai City FC in Hero ISL 2016.
