The towering left-back hails from the village of Lengpui in Mizoram. Making his debut for Shillong Lajong in the 2012/13 I-League season, he spent two seasons with the team before shifting to Bengaluru FC in 2014/15. That change meant he would be part of a squad that won the Federation Cup in 2015 besides finishing second in the 2014/15 I-League season.

Lalchhuanmawia was a member of Bengaluru’s failed qualification bid for the AFC Champions League when the Blues lost in extra time to Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta’zim. . In the 2015 ISL, he played nine matches for Mumbai City FC on loan. With his ability to pump the ball up the pitch, his presence in the back adds a new dimension to Mumbai’s defence.
