Aiborlang Khongjee is a brilliant tackler besides being good in the air. He is also known for his ability to deliver accurate long balls, thus adding an extra thrust in attack. His first major tournament was the under-17 Surboto Cup. He then got selected to play for the Sports Authority of India in Shillong. The stopper-back signed his first professional contract with Shillong Lajong in 2005 and has had three stints with the Meghalaya club since. In between, he had stints with East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. He has also represented India at the under-20 AFC Championship in 2006 and made his senior team debut on November 15, 2013.
The defender played 13 matches for NorthEast United FC in Hero ISL 2014 and eight matches in Hero ISL 2015. Khongjee will be hoping for more game-time with Mumbai City FC in the upcoming season.
