Michael Chopra returns to the Hero Indian Super League and Kerala Blasters FC after being a part of the Season 1 side that lost to Atlético de Kolkata in the final. The veteran striker, who is a product of the Newcastle United academy, will be looking to go one better with the Blasters in the upcoming season after having plenty of short stints with English sides and most recently with Scottish League One team Alloa Athletic FC. Born in Newcastle on Tyne, England and although eligible to play for India through his father, Chopra has represented The Three Lions at the under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-20 levels.

    Career Highlights

    • Represented England from the under-15s right up to the -21 levels.
    • Made UEFA Champions League debut in December 2002, as a substitute against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, and also played against Bayer Leverkusen.
    • On April 17, 2006, Chopra scored his first Premier League goal and the fastest in Premier League history, against Sunderland in the 60th minute of the Tyne-Wear derby, which ended 4–1. Chopra had only been on the pitch for 15 seconds after coming on as a substitute.
