Mumbai City FC’s central midfielder Krisztian Vadocz has featured in all of his team’s matches so far in the 2016 Hero Indian Super League, and has played the most number of minutes (1080) for the Mumbaikars. The 31-year-old Hungarian has been instrumental in the middle of the park, creating a number of chances besides bagging two important goals. Mumbai, currently top of the league with 19 points from 12 games, play defending champions Chennaiyin FC on Wednesday, and if they win they will definitely have one foot in the semis. Ahead of this crucial tie, Vadocz spoke to indiansuperleague.com and shared his thoughts. Here are excerpts from the interview.Mumbai were brilliant in the last game against Kerala Blasters FC, so how do you plan to keep the momentum going against Chennaiyin FC?You know that our purpose from the beginning was to be a compact and unique team and now I think we are doing good in that aspect, so that was very important for us. If you want to reach the semis or dream even bigger, you need to have a solid team performance like this. We need to continue our good work in terms of focus and preparation.Mumbai are pretty close to the semis, so do you believe that adds pressure on the team?No not at all, the pressure is always on when we are playing football but this is like a sweet addition because this is why you play football, so that there is excitement. Yes, we are close to the semis now and that’s why need much more focus than before because we are so close and it’s easy to slip, so we don’t want to make any mistakes. You and Lucian Goian are the only two players who have started in every Mumbai City FC game, so how would you describe your contribution to the team so far?We were lucky enough to start all the matches. That means our responsibilities are higher than average, and it also feels very good to be given that responsibility and confidence from the staff and from the head coach, so we just don’t want to mess up that confidence. We are trying to be like leaders, trying to make good examples and be successful together and we are enjoying our time here. What do you think is Chennaiyin FC’s strongest aspect which Mumbai City FC will be focusing on tomorrow? We haven’t spoken to the manager yet. In our tactics meeting, we will know what Chennai’s weakness is. Of course, we played against them two weeks ago but we have played some more matches since then, so it’s going to be a totally different match from before [which ended in a 1-1 draw in Chennai]. We also playing at home and we are even stronger with our Mumbai fans (smiles), so we hope we can show that kind of quality like we did in the our last game [when they won 5-0 against Kerala Blasters FC].Lastly, how much have you learnt under your head coach Alexandre Guimaraes? He is a well-known coach, a very experienced one and I think from the beginning we have been on the same page when it comes to football and the ideology. He can manage the whole squad which is very good since we have a huge and wide squad and we have three goalkeepers and all three have one clean sheet (smiles), and that’s what I call a good quality squad.
