Sunil Chhetri was all smiles following Mumbai City FC’s 2-0 win over Chennaiyin FC at the Mumbai Football Arena on Wednesday evening. Matias Defederico opened the scoring for Mumbai in the 32nd minute before Krisztian Vadocz doubled the advantage on the hour mark as the hosts became the first team to seal a spot in the semis of Hero Indian Super League 2016. Chhetri played 84 minutes for Mumbai on the night and provided the assist for the vital opener before coming off to a rousing reception later in the match. The 32-year-old spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com shortly after securing a maiden semis appearance in the Hero ISL. Here are the excerpts from the interview. How does it feel qualifying for the semi-finals for the first time?It feels really great as last year we did not have a good season, and to qualify with a match in hand, it feels really good. We just want to build on the momentum and are quite confident about the semi-finals.You bagged an assist today for the Defederico goal, so how does it feel to be back in the thick of things?[Also] missed a lot of chances but as a striker you always have to create the chances and the goals are going to come and it happens sometimes, when you miss the silly ones, but I am happy as we won the game and we got the three points. How much are you itching to get back on the scoresheet?I think it has been 3-4 games for me now but as long as you win everything is fine and the goals will come as I am working hard.It is the third clean sheet Mumbai have kept this season, so what is working well for you guys?We are working really hard as a team and whenever we finish an attack, we go back and defend as a team. Also, everyone is putting in the hard work. They say if you keep clean sheets, you win leagues, so we just want to keep working hard on that. The win takes Mumbai into the semis. Have you already started thinking about the final? No, we are not thinking about the final. We just want to focus on the next game.
