Dudu will want to end Hero Indian Super League 2016 on a high when Chennaiyin FC take on FC Goa in both sides’ last match of the season at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Thursday. Both of last season’s finalists will be playing for pride after falling out of contention for the semis. Dudu, who played for Goa last season, will be looking to make his presence felt against his former employers, for whom he also netted a hat-trick last year. The Nigerian striker, who is the Super Machans’ top-scorer this season (4 goals) and heads into the contest on the back of a hat-trick against NorthEast United FC, spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the clash against Goa. Here are the excerpts from the interview. You have a special connection with Goa, how does it feel to come back to Goa?It feels good to be back because this is where I started from, and it made me who I am today. I started from Sporting Clube de Goa, which was a great experience, and last year I was playing for FC Goa and now I’m playing against them. It feels nice and I think the game is going to be really good tomorrow. Both teams are going to be playing for pride tomorrow, so how do you think the match is going to play out? It’s going to be a good match. Both teams didn’t qualify but since we didn’t start well we want to finish well, but it’s going be a tough one as even they would want to finish on a good note, so it’s going to be an interesting game.Last year you played under Zico and this year you have played under Marco Materazzi, so how different has the experience been? You can notice that Brazilian and Italian coaches have a different style of approaching the game, and last year was amazing with great quality of players and this year as well it has been good with Chennai since they have many quality players too. I would say last year I played more of a Brazilian style and this year we played differently but couldn’t reach where we wanted to, so I can say that is one thing which is different. You scored a beautiful hat-trick against NorthEast, so was it a bittersweet moment for you since the game didn’t go in the team’s favour? It was sad for me because we needed the win to move higher and with a few minutes to go they equalised, so it wasn’t useful as we didn’t win but I was a little happy because I wanted to score for a long time and I managed to do that in the last match. I scored a hat-trick but it was sad because we couldn’t make it to the semis.
