NorthEast United FC will be looking to get three points to keep themselves alive in the semis race when they take on Delhi Dynamos FC in their 2016 Hero Indian Super League encounter at Guwahati’s Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium on Wednesday. However, it won’t be easy as they come up against a team that is heading into this match on the back of a 5-1 thrashing of FC Goa. NorthEast’s marquee man Didier Zokora, who has been very inspirational for his team this season, spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the clash and shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts from the interview.Nicolas Velez has hit form just at the right time and the team seems to have found its rhythm back of late, so what’s your take on that?Of course, every player for us is very important and in the last game Nico played very well and we got a point. Nico and Romaric are back from injury and the team is back together too and I am sure we can take six points from the last two games [vs Delhi and Kerala] to qualify for the semis. You are the senior most player in the squad, so how have you personally helped develop the young players in the team?I was at Pune last year and now I’m at NorthEast, and I want to share my experience with young players like Fanai Lalrempuia, Lallianzuala Chhangte and Jerry Mawihmingthanga. What kind of game are you expecting tomorrow? We need to win against Delhi and then play our final league stage game against Kerala. Tomorrow is an important game for us as we play at home and we need to take the three points. What’s your take on the position NorthEast are presently in?Our chances depend on ourselves and we have two games, and if we win these two games we will qualify. How has your overall ISL experience been?I am so happy to be here and contribute to the ISL and it is great being here and I hope to qualify for the semis.Any Indian player in the ISL that has caught your eye…When I played for Pune, I would say Eugeneson Lyngdoh and Lenny Rodrigues [were most impressive], and at NorthEast I would say Rowllin Borges, Lallianzuala, Mawihmingthanga and Lalrempuia. The left-back from Mumbai [Sena Ralte] is also good.(Please note that following Atlético de Kolkata’s 1-1 draw at home against Kerala Blasters FC on Tuesday, Delhi Dynamos FC also qualify for the semi-finals. Mumbai City FC, ATK and Delhi are the three teams to have qualified as of now. FC Pune City and defending Chennaiyin FC are out of contention, leaving Kerala Blasters FC and NorthEast United FC in a tussle for the remaining spot in the semis.)
