NorthEast United FC are finding the going tough in Hero ISL 2016. Winless in their last five matches, including four successive defeats, they are in the bottom half of the table but can do their campaign a world of good if they can beat Atlético de Kolkata at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium on Thursday. Katsumi Yusa has been one of the most important players for the Highlanders this season, and he has to be at his best if Nelo Vingada’s men are to get back in semis contention. The playmaker, who already has a goal and an assist to his name this season, spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the game and shared his thoughts. Here are excerpts from the interview. What do you think about NorthEast’s current position in the league? We are now in seventh position but the difference between top and bottom teams is not much in terms of points, hence my team-mates and I are confident. There are five matches left for us in the league stage and we have played a game fewer than most teams, so we will look to give our best in the next match and look to get three points.Does it worry you that NorthEast have the least number of goals so far in the league? We have scored fewer goals because we are not shooting as much as we should. Some players have told me to shoot more as well and try to test the opposition goalkeeper. So from next match on, I will try to shoot more and score more. What do you think about your own performance so far?I don’t know, that is not for me to comment on. That is for the supporters, the officials, the staff and other players to decide. I just try to give my best every match and give my 100% in every training session.Kolkata has been like a home for you. Coming back to Kolkata and playing for the away team, how is the feeling? This is my home because I play for Mohun Bagan, so I’m very happy to come back to Kolkata. Since the opponent is not Mohun Bagan, so I don’t care. I will give my best and enjoy the football.
