FC Pune City will be looking to stay alive in the 2016 Hero Indian Super League with a win against Kerala Blasters FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Friday. The Stallions currently lie fourth in the standings with 15 points from 12 games and know that a defeat to the Blasters will see the men in yellow leapfrog them into the top 4 with just one game in hand.Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference in Kochi, Pune assistant coach David Molinor said: “All teams have a chance and after the defeat in Guwahati [to NorthEast United FC], the next two games are very important for us as we are playing the most crucial part of the league away from home. We are the only team playing away at this stage and I don’t understand how only Pune City are playing away. And tomorrow’s game is very important as we are playing a strong team with a great fan base and we are ready to play and we will do our best but the players are a bit tired with all the travelling. I think 19-20 points are required to qualify and I think 18 might not be enough,” Molinor said.Commenting on Pune’s inconsistency in front of goal that saw them fail to score against NorthEast right after their 4-3 win against Delhi Dynamos FC, Molinor said: “If you saw the match against NorthEast, we had four-five good chances and I don’t know why we did not score. Now the players are tired but they are ready to score tomorrow for sure.”Pune take on a Kerala defence that leaked five goals in their last encounter against Mumbai City FC. However, Molinor insisted that he doesn’t think the Blasters’ 5-0 humbling at hands of Mumbai will be a factor on Friday. “No, I don’t think so, and when you have 55,000 thousand fans behind you, they would forget what happened in Mumbai and I think they are also ready to play with them getting good amount of rest before the match and good support behind them of their home fans,” he said.Rahul Bheke, who made his Hero ISL bow for Kerala Blasters FC last season, also accompanied Molinor to the press conference. When asked about the importance of tomorrow’s encounter against his former employers, Bheke said: “I am happy to be back in Kerala and tomorrow’s game will be tough and we are here for the win and I will give my best for my team.”He was also quick to lavish praise on the passionate support of Kerala. “I think the fans in Kerala are the best fans in India as they are very passionate and they support the team irrespective of the team winning or losing. Looking forward to the game tomorrow and even though the fans will be supporting them, we will give our best and look to get the three points,” Bheke said.
