Eugeneson Lyngdoh will look to kick on from his match winning performance against Mumbai City FC last time around when FC Pune City visit the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai to take on defending champions Chennaiyin FC on Tuesday. Pune have reached 12 points from nine matches after back-to-back victories and currently lie in fifth spot, one point shy of the top 4. Lyngdoh has had an instant impact for the Stallions after coming off the bench to score the winner in his only match this season. The 30-year-old midfielder spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview. You are back in the ISL after a great stint with Bengaluru FC. How are you feeling?I feel good to be back and it has been a long wait and I am finally here and am excited.FC Pune City has changed a lot since last year with new additions to the squad as well as a new head coach. How are you adapting to the changes and what are the differences you see?New coach, new players, so everything is changing and the team is in a good mood on the back of two wins. And under the new coach we look more set this year and I am looking forward to the game against Chennaiyin. Hopefully we can make it to the top 4, so let’s see where we go from here. You scored the winner in the last game. That must have felt good, so take us through that?Obviously, I was overjoyed and excited that I scored the goal. Getting the three points and coming onto the pitch for the first time was great. When the ball bounced, I thought it would go above the bar but it went into the net so I was like ‘cool, cool’ glad it went in. (laughs)Chennaiyin are back home after two losses and Pune are here on the back of two wins. How do you think the game will pan out tomorrow?I think it is going to be a difficult game for us and we need another win, you know. Chennaiyin will also want to win after two losses to climb up the table. So, it will be a tough game for us and they will be tough to break down. You are widely regarded as the best Indian midfielder currently. Does this bring added pressure or is it something you’re proud off?I am glad that the pundits and fans have given me this title. I don’t feel I am the best Indian player but I want to thank them. I think it acts as a motivation for me as it feels that I have achieved something and I want to do something even better so I don’t take it as any pressure but I take it as motivation.
