Helder Postiga played his part for Atlético de Kolkata during their 4-3 win on penalties over Kerala Blasters FC in the final of Hero Indian Super League 2016 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday. The game ended all square at 1-1 in full-time courtesy of first half goals from Mohammed Rafi in the 37th minute and Henrique Sereno in the 44th minute. Neither team managed to find a winning goal in extra-time, setting up a nervy shootout to decide Hero ISL 2016’s champions. Iain Hume missed Kolkata’s only penalty in the shootout, while both Elhadji Ndoye and Cedric Hengbart missed from the spot for the Blasters as Jewel Raja hit the winning penalty for ATK. Kolkata’s marquee man spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the game. Here are the excerpts from the interview.How does it feel wining on penalties?It was a difficult game for us, with two big teams playing the final and when the game goes into penalties, then it depends a lot on luck. But I think the entire ATK team have done fantastic work throughout the season.Did you prepare for penalty shootouts in training?Yes, when you know games can be decided on penalties, practising them is important and you must be ready for them.How are you going to celebrate?We are just going to try to enjoy this moment. These memories will stay with me forever, like it will be for others. Winning titles is most important for football players and I am going to save this memory.
